Overview

Chamnamoo Korean Restaurant, nestled at 20349 88 Ave in Langley Township, offers an authentic Korean dining experience that boldly captures the essence of traditional flavors paired with a warm, inviting atmosphere. This spot caters to those seeking both the comforting familiarity of classic Korean dishes and the vibrant energy of a lively eatery.

The restaurant is best known for its diverse menu featuring highlight dishes such as the Chamnamoo Combo with fried mackerel accompanied by soup and side dishes, 삼겹살 (Samgyeopsal) or grilled pork belly BBQ, and the spicy pork with bean sprouts. These dishes reflect a mastery of Korean culinary staples, emphasizing bold, balanced seasoning and quality ingredients. The Beef Bulgogi and 육전과 겉절이 (beef slices with fresh veggie salad) also offer lighter yet flavorful alternatives that complement the smoky, rich BBQ options.

The space itself feels cozy and somewhat nostalgic, reminiscent of old-school Korean pochas—casual, bustling eateries that focus on hearty food and convivial company. Despite some minor wear, it retains a comfortable charm, perfect for groups and individuals alike. The ambiance pairs well with the menu’s offerings, encouraging relaxed, social dining experiences where sharing is part of the meal’s joy.

Customers regularly praise the tender texture and perfectly grilled quality of the pork belly, often served atop caramelized onions that enhance the dish’s sweetness. The spicy, numbing heat of the Mara Jjimdak (braised chicken with glass noodles and rice cakes) stands out as a must-try, delivering a rich, satisfying depth of flavor that resonates with those who enjoy bold, spicy profiles. Newer variations like the Mala Rosé Jjimdak have been warmly received, expanding the restaurant’s range while maintaining the balance of spice and flavor.

Service is described as friendly and welcoming, with staff attentive to guest needs, though there is room for swifter pacing in busier moments. The complementary appetizers and thoughtfully prepared side dishes add layers to the experience, enhancing the overall meal without overwhelming the main courses.

Chamnamoo also embraces classic pairings such as jokbal (braised pig’s trotters) with soju, providing a traditional Korean dining ritual that appeals to both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers seeking an authentic taste of Korean culture. The inclusion of cold noodles as a refreshing palate cleanser rounds out the menu diversity.

For diners in Langley Township and beyond, Chamnamoo Korean Restaurant stands as a meaningful option for those craving genuine Korean comfort food enriched by a nostalgic atmosphere. Whether visiting for a hearty BBQ session, a spicy braised chicken dish, or a casual catch-up over soju, the restaurant serves up flavors and experiences deeply rooted in Korean culinary tradition.

Quick Bite Review: Old-School Charm & Flavor! This restaurant nails the classic Korean Pocha vibe—it’s cozy, lively, and full of nostalgic charm. We highly recommend the Mara Jjimdak! It's a spicy, numbing delight. The addition of Chinese glass noodles and rice cakes (tteok) soaked up the rich sauce perfectly, making it incredibly satisfying. We also enjoyed the Samgyeopsal Jeong-sik (Pork Belly Set). The pork was perfectly pre-grilled (crispy outside, tender inside), served on a generous bed of caramelized onions that added a lovely sweetness. Great food, great atmosphere, and a wonderful overall experience. A must-try!

I visited this location for the first time and I loved the atmosphere! The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. I tried their new menu item, the Mala Rosé Jjimdak, and it was so delicious — seriously amazing! You should definitely try it when you visit. Highly recommend!

The whole food menu, including the complimentary appetizer, was quite delicious. However, $70 for the pork belly feels a bit overpriced for what you get. Compared to the generous portions and side dishes from the previous ownership, the overall value has gone down while the price went up. The jokbal set was satisfying in both taste and portion. Even the noodles and radish kimchi were tasty. The server was friendly, but the service itself was on the slow side. There’s definitely room for improvement. There aren’t many options for a full meal, but enjoying jokbal with soju seems like a good choice.

Mala Rose Braised Chicken was tender with a warm, balanced spice, and the sausage had that perfect juicy snap — would definitely order again. Please tell servers to add less mala if you have low spicy tolerance.

Went during low traffic hour so didn’t need to wait. The place is a bit old & the wall was dusty with spider web; however the BBQ set was nice. The meat is tender and side dishes are delicious. The cold noodle I can say is way better than others I’ve been.

Tried Rose chicken, It was my first time to have Rose something at a restaurant, and it is delicious. The sauce was well balanced, and the dish had decent amount of chickens, noodel, and rice cakes for 2. The staffs are super friendly. Definitely will come again.
